National Freedom of Information Audit

Since 2008, Fred Vallance-Jones has designed and managed the National Freedom of Information Audit on behalf of Newspapers Canada. The audit sends identical freedom-of-information requests to federal and provincial departments and to municipalities and police forces, then compares their performance.  Government bodies are graded on both the speed and extent of disclosure of information paid for by the public. Each year, Fred works with students or former students, creating a rich learning experience that teaches what it’s really like to navigate the FOI system.
